DC Scores
Beginning in 2019, the Risa Fund collaborated with DC Scores by funding the two-part development of an intensive course in mental health and trauma-informed first-aid training for staff and coaches.
2020 Update:
While DC Scores and the entire AMERICA Scores network had to suspend in-person programming when schools closed in March, they never stopped serving their poet-athletes with a trauma informed approach to virtual coaching. During the spring and summer, DC Scores remained in consistent contact with approximately 3000 kids. They continued to help them feel safe, supported, connected, and hopeful while isolated at home. In June, the entire AMERICA Scores network came together for the first ever Virtual Scores Conference. One of the sessions focused on trauma coaching and featured Megan Bartlett, founder of We Coach.
