our minds matter (OMM)
The Risa Fund is providing support to our minds matter (OMM) to enable program staff to participate in a three-day virtual training course offered by the National Council for Behavioral Health in August 2020. Participants will become teen-certified Mental Health First-Aid program facilitators. As facilitators, staff will be certified to deliver, in a virtual setting, the evidence-based training to OMM student leaders and club members during the 2020-21 school year. This training will enable facilitators to recognize and help their friends with mental health problems and understand how to get an adult involved quickly.
About our minds matter
Teens often first look to their peers as to how they should think about or approach an issue. Through group activities and school-wide promotion, our minds matter clubs will help set the tone around mental health in their school community to be one that encourages students to seek help for themselves and friends and one that promotes social connectedness and the development of healthy habits and coping skills.
