Risa’s ReMatch began in 2014 as a partnership between the Risa Fund and Leveling the Playing Field, connecting new and gently used tennis equipment with young people who might otherwise lack access to the gear they needed to play.
The initiative grew from Marisa’s love of tennis and reflected her commitment to helping others while giving athletic equipment a second life. Leveling the Playing Field has since expanded its work to collect and distribute equipment across a wide range of sports.
The Risa Fund family knows Marisa would have loved the idea of recycling her gear; she was passionate about environmental sustainability and, of course, helping those who have less than they deserve.

Responding During the Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Leveling the Playing Field adapted its work to help young people stay active and connected. Its Sports Kits provided equipment children could use individually or in small groups, creating opportunities for physical activity while maintaining social distance.
The Risa Fund supported this effort by covering the costs to provide 500 Sports Kits to young people across the District, Maryland, and Virginia.
